Dave Gordon – Pianist and Composer
Dave Gordon began playing piano at age 9, and attended New Trier West as a teenager from Glencoe. His musical path through high school led him to Berklee College of Music where he graduated in 1978. His musical encounters include performances and recordings with Joe Henderson, Phil Wilson, John LaPorta, Tiger Okoshi and well known guitarist Mike Stern. He studied Jazz piano with the late great James Williams.
Gordon’s recorded discography continues with a CD in the works, "Forthcoming." The current release is the Dave Gordon Quintet “Flash” – along with the previous CD “Constantly Evolving” (Birch Tree Records 2010) featuring Brian Gephart, Corky Siegel, Dave Zielinski, Anthony Brock, Chris Clemente and Dushun Mosely, recorded on his Steinway in his home studio.
Gordon's first original CD on Southport Records "Turn" (Southport 1995) and the subsequent CD "Faux Real" (Southport 2003) featured both live tracks from Sparrow Sound Design Recording Studio and Gordon’s Saturn Productions.
In 1984 Gordon released "Green Things", a collection of originals which featured several different groups and included Howard Levy, Steve Eisen, Brian Gephart and others. In 1981 with “Bagel O’ Fun”, Gordon collaborated with saxophonist Brian Gephart and recorded with prominent guitarist Bill Frisell (“Atmosphere” on Willow Records).
