Edy Martinez has been one of the most influential musician in the NYC Latin scene since the 60’s until today. Born in Pasto ( Colombia) he came to the US when he was only a teenager. His career began to develop when he was hired by the legendary conguero Ray Barreto as a piano player, arranger and musical director, from there on he has played and arranged for artists such as Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Mongo Santamaría, Gato Barbieri, Paquito D’Rivera and Cubop City Big Band ( From Holland ) among others. On May 4th he would be joined by his nephew Samuel Torres on congas. Following Edy’s steps, Samuel came to the US in 1999, and established himself as one of the most important percussionists and composers in jazz around the globe, he has performed with artists like Arturo Sandoval, Richard Bona, Lila Downs, Marc Anthony, Angelique Kidjo, Tito Puente, Chick Corea and many more.
