Freedom Hall’s Nathan Manilow Theatre has been presenting performance events since the opening of Park Forest’s cultural arts center in 1976, and a formal Series began in 1979. A community panel was created to implement a multi-event series which consisted primarily of lecturers in the formative years. Nathan Manilow Theatre, which has the capacity for 280 patrons (and limited handicapped seating available), has presented a multitude of events in all genres over the years.

The variety of dance, music, comedy and speakers has included The National Theatre of the Deaf, the Chicago City Ballet, Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre, Muntu Dance Theatre, Tom Chapin, Corky Siegel, George Winston, Daedalus Production’s “A Soldier’s Play”, The Second City Touring Company, John Houseman, The Amazing Kreskin, Vincent Price and many other top-billings. These performances align with the Freedom Hall Series goal to present the finest cultural events in the community and the south suburban region. An emphasis has been placed on providing a well-balanced series that is delivered to Freedom Hall’s patrons in a professional manner guaranteeing exposure to inspiring, challenging and entertaining artists and performances.
