The orange, blue and red rooms are named for the respective colors of each space's 1950s-era amoeba-shaped Formica bars, echoed by vinyl-padded mirrors on the ceilings. According to lounge etiquette, you must buy a drink in order to sit at the bar. There's nothing fancy to order, but the New Apartment Lounge sure is friendly.
Although most nights there's no music, every Tuesday starting around 10pm Von Freeman and company play some of the best jazz you can hear in Chicago
